I am an Irish photographer based in County Louth.
My photographic practice is rooted in observation, shaped by a close familiarity with rural life, relationships, and the rhythms of the everyday. Working primarily in documentary and portraiture, I focus on the unguarded moments and interactions, alongside the details that can go unnoticed and yet still carry emotional weight.
I photograph people, animals, and environments that I know personally. I am drawn to the ways identity and connection are expressed through routine, gesture, and place. These subjects are approached as lived experience, unfolding over time.
Portraiture forms a central part of my practice. I work on location, allowing the environment and the subject’s own presence to shape the image. This approach prioritises stillness and attentiveness, creating space for something honest to emerge.
Photography, for me, is both a means of preservation and a way of understanding. It allows fleeting moments to settle into something lasting, while holding onto their ambiguity. Themes of memory, identity, and belonging run throughout my work, often grounded in the textures of rural life and the relationships within it.
My process is instinctive and responsive. I work with minimal intervention, favouring natural light and a quiet, unobtrusive presence. This allows my images to remain open, inviting viewers to look more closely and find meaning within the ordinary.
